A cut into our landscape...

This is the only excavation that will be involved in the building of our cottage. The step up you can see is a step that runs across the cottage from the lounge  to the formal dining and from the family room up to the the kitchen. This step is required to reduce any deep excavation into the soil to ensure the protection of our precious tree root zone as is all the fencing to protect our trees.

Our dream is becoming a reality....

Our Sonningfield Cottage is starting to be built. After 3 plus years of planning and wading through designers, drafts people, Heritage Victoria, Shire Council and builders.

Last week the tree protection zones were erected and the house and carport have been pegged out. Interestingly our boundary fences are out by approx one metre but we will give careful consideration before we move the fences.

It is the middle of Winter so all our precious trees are bare. Unfortunately we have to have large Radiata Pine trees removed to make way for the carport, one of these is dangerous as it has a vast lean in the direction of the cottage. It saddens us to see them go.
